There are 3 different ways to start using Timesheet, you can choose to use:

• the free version of Timesheet which you can install on one of your servers or
• the payed version, which you can install on one of your own servers or
• the payed version, which is installed on our servers (SaaS: Software as a Service).

•   Freeware version   •

Journyx Timesheet is free for companies that have less than 10 users. So if you're searching for a centralized software solution for tracking time, expenses or mileage costs, then look no further, because Journyx provides you with a complete and easy to use solution. The only cost you will have are your hardware costs and the time you need for the installation, implementation and daily administrative tasks.

The freeware version has no time limit, advertisements or any other 'nag' screens.

•   Free version versus payed version   •

There are some differences between the free and the payed version:

• The free version can only be used when installed on your own server (SaaS is not available for the free version),
• It may also be that the freeware version is not always the latest version of Journyx Timesheet. New versions and upgrades are first available for paying customers, so the freeware version may be missing some of the latest functionality.
• Functionality unavailable in the freeware version:
  
  • Creating your own authorization roles (defining which functionality a user has access to),
  • Cube reports (which creates pivot tables in Excel for you),
  • Currency conversion in the expense administration (if you use different currencies with expenses, it will convert the amounts to the desired currency on reports),
  • and you can't upload digital images of, for example invoices or bills.
  • As of version 8 the optional module Rate Manager is incorporated in the standard functionality. Rate manager functionality is not available in the freeware version.
  • If you buy the software, you get support and upgrades. That does not mean, however, that we will not answer any questions you may have even when you use the freeware version. We will gladly help you with the use of our software. However, if it takes up too much of our time then we will discuss the option of training or consultancy with you. In just a few hours you learn how to implement the required structure so that it's easy to use and maintain!

It's possible to sign up for a 1 year support contract for the free version. This enables you to get support, patches and minor upgrades and you decide if you want to renew the support contract after the year has ended.
The price of a 1 year support contract is € 685 ($ 925, exchange rate used: 1 euro = 1,35 dollar).

•   Why free?   •

Journyx has a number of reasons to offer Journyx Timesheet as freeware:

• It drives our competitors nuts. And we just love to do that.
  They don't give their software away for more than about 15 days because they know that if you use it for 16 days you'll find out that it doesn't work very well and that it doesn't really solve your business problem. We give ours away forever because we think you should have all the time in the world to evaluate and decide for yourself what will work best for your company. It's one of the many reasons why our competitors hate our guts - because we deliver more value to people for less money, and in many cases, for no money at all.
• Journyx likes to help small companies who are starting out.
  We like to help small companies grow and succeed. We were small once. That's no BS.
• It gets more people using our software, liking it and us.
  Someday they'll be in a bigger company, either because the company they're in will grow or because they'll get a new job, and they'll know us, like us, and they'll buy from us.
• It prevents people from making their own 'solution', which eventually may be marketed. This software is often unstable and unscalable, giving timetracking software a band name.
• It discourages the use of lame substitutions.
  The biggest offender here is Microsoft Excel, which will waste your time, drive you crazy and ultimately cost you money as you forget to bill your clients or lose track of your costs.
• Great New Ideas.
  We treasure the suggestions and ideas we get from the tens of thousands of companies worldwide that run their businesses on our software every day and have never paid us a dime because they're under 10 users. It's like we have armies of employees testing and evaluating our technology on both our freetimesheet.com ASP site and on the free 10 user version of our software, except we don't have to pay those people anything.
• It helps us get our foot in the door at large companies. Managers of smaller departments inside larger organizations can make use of the free & unlimited Timesheet too. They can track their time and improve their profitability, and when the "big boys" come calling to find out just how things got better, Timesheet will be there looking nice and shiny.

•   Payed version   •

You can use the payed version in 2 different ways:

• Local installation; Timesheet is installed on one of your own servers (OS: Windows, Unix of Linux) or
• through SaaS (Software as a Service). Timesheet is installed for you on one of our servers. All technical administrative work (installation of patches and upgrades, backups etc.) is done by Journyx technicians. The only thing you need is a pc with an internet connection.

•   Licenses   •

A license is defined as anyone who is currently tracking his/her own time/expense and/or mileage data in the system within a 30 day period, either personally or via a time keeper. A license becomes available (for example for another person) if there is no data entered within a 30 day period.

•   Local installation   •

Prices mentioned on this page are in euros and in dollars (example exchange rate used on this page: 1 euro = 1,35 dollar), rounded and without BTW/VAT .
Licenses are sold in bundles, contact us if you need a quote for a number of licenses that is not mentioned on this page (Journyx Timesheet is scalable up to thousands of licenses).

Maintenance contracts are included with first year pricing. Annual maintenance renewal is optional; however, Journyx strongly recommends continuing your maintenance contract for the most cost effective technical support. Journyx Maintenance contracts provide:

• Free access to the latest patch level as well as any new minor releases (i.e. v7.x to v7.y).
• Priority access to technical support.
• A 50% discount on any new major releases (i.e. v7.x to v8.x) you purchase.

Are there any other costs which need to be considered when installing Timesheet on one of your own servers?

• Hardware costs,
• Technical activities (installations (patches, upgrades), possible netwerk changes (firewall, DMZ), scheduling of backups),
• Possible security costs (HTTPS certificate),

•   Software as a Service (SaaS)   •

When you choose the SaaS option, Journyx will do all the technical administrative activities for you. You just need a pc with an internet connection to use Timesheet. The following is also included with SaaS:

• All installation activities (1st installation and installations of patches and upgrades),
• Support contract,
• Technisch administration (performance, backups and restores),
• Secured connection (HTTPS),
• All future major releases (for example from version 7.x to 8.x).

The minimum period for SaaS is 3 months and one month cancellation term.
